It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we say farewell to our friend and volunteer member of our Board of Directors, John Folsom. John passed away unexpectedly on March 20, 2024.
Almost 24 years ago, John joined the Houlton Federal Credit Union Board of Directors. When The County Federal Credit Union merged with Houlton FCU, we incorporated John into our Board of Directors. He was an active director who rarely missed a committee meeting, Board meeting, seminar, or any other meeting for which he volunteered to represent the credit union.
“John was a great advocate not only for the members but for the staff as well,” said President & CEO, Ryan Ellsworth. “He was always one of the first to raise his hand in support of the things that benefited the team and made the credit union a better place to work. He was a wonderful and dedicated part of our credit union volunteer family and will be greatly missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing and engaging with him.”
Always with a kind word or a Dad joke, John brought smiles to all he met. He loved music and participated in his church choir and McGill’s band. He was dedicated in everything he did and nurtured his passion for history and the Houlton area through his involvement with the Aroostook Historical & Art Museum.
We send our deepest condolences to John’s loved ones and he will always hold a special place in our hearts.
