CU Campaign to End HungerThe County Federal Credit Union’s Campaign for Ending Hunger is a true example of the credit union philosophy of "People Helping People".
Thanks to the tremendous spirit of the Maine Credit Unions, their staff, volunteers and members, the collective efforts of Maine Credit Unions raised another record setting amount of $366,575.80 in 2007! Since 1990, Maine credit unions have raised over $2.7 million for the Maine Credit Union's Campaign to End Hunger. All of this money has gone directly to Maine hunger organizations.
This year The County Federal Credit Union placed twenty-first in total contributions. As one of this year's top winners, The County Federal Credit Union received a check in the amount of $4,493.21. These funds returned represent 92% of what we raised and an additional $175.00 for being in the top 25 placements. These funds will be donated back to local hunger organizations.
The County Federal Credit Union continues to raise funds throughout the year for this great cause by selling candles, banks, cookbooks and Christmas ornaments.
At our 52nd Annual Meeting in May 2008, seven local food pantries were presented with an equal share of the proceeds given back to The County Federal Credit Union. The pantries represented were: M&M Ministries, St.Louis Ecumenical Food Pantry, Caribou Ecumenical Food Pantry, The Bread of Life Soup Kitchen, GIFT, Sister Mary O'Donnell Shelter and Friends Helping Friends.
