The County Federal Credit Union Scholarship program was designed to offer financial assistance to qualified individuals in pursuit of educational advancement.

2014 Scholarship Program

Applicants

The County Federal Credit Unionís Scholarship Program was designed to offer financial assistance to qualified individuals who are in pursuit of educational advancement. The following will explain the scholarship details; forms needed and deadlines to return along with additional program information.

Eligibility

Eligibility to apply for The County Federal Credit Unionís Scholarship is open to members of The County Federal Credit Union.

The applicant, if not already a member, must become a member. Membership requires opening a $5.00 share/savings account. The County Federal Credit Union has locations in Caribou, Presque Isle, Fort Fairfield and Houlton.

The applicant must be a high school senior and graduate during the current school year.

Selection Committee

The Selection Committee for The County Federal Credit Unionís Scholarship Program is comprised of four people; three are members of the Board of Directors and one is a credit union staff member.

Criteria

The committee judges candidates on the basis of financial need, academic performance as shown by high school records, extracurricular activities and evidence of strong character and motivation as seen in the studentís life outside the school.

Required Forms

The committee meets in May to review the confidential file of each applicant. To be considered the application must contain all of the following:

The County Federal Credit Unionís Scholarship Application-the application must be typed or word processed.

Transcripts of high school grades.

Letter of Recommendation-completed by guidance counselor, other school official or present/past employer.

College Financial Aid Offer.

Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) Cover Page from your FAFSA (Federal Student Financial Aid) form.

Application Deadline

The applicant is responsible for following up to see that all the required forms are received and that the file is complete by the close of business on May 2nd. Incomplete files or those received after the deadline will not be considered. Follow up call and inquiries can be made to Stacy Edgecomb at 498-8756 ext 114.

Amount & Payment

Four (4) one-time financial scholarships of $1,000 each may be awarded per year. The award will be paid directly to the college upon successful completion of the first semester and proof of enrollment in the second semester.

Announcements

Recipients of scholarships will be notified on or before May 30th, 2014
